  • The R.I.C.E. protocol to alleviate the pain and reduce inflammation and further damage:

    • Rest: Avoid activities that aggravate the injury. 
    • Ice: Apply ice packs (wrapped in a towel) to the injured area for 15-20 minutes, several times a day. 
    • Compression: Use an elastic bandage to support the injured area and reduce swelling. 
    • Elevation: Raise the injured area above the level of your heart, especially at night, to reduce swelling.
