Dr Benji Lim Yaozong is a Senior Interventional Cardiologist who currently practises at the Novena Heart Centre in Novena, Napier, and Thomson Road, as well as at Thomson Specialists (Thomson Medical Centre).
He treats patients with various heart conditions and has a clinical interest in preventing and managing coronary artery disease and its risk factors, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
Dr Lim performs procedures such as coronary angiography and angioplasty, also known as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or stenting. He has performed over 2,000 PCI procedures, including complex cases involving left main bifurcations, calcified lesions, and total occlusions. He incorporates the use of intravascular imaging and pressure wire assessment into his practice to guide diagnosis and treatment.
Dr Lim graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2007 and completed his postgraduate Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 2012. He obtained his Advanced Specialist Training in Cardiology in Singapore in 2015. After that, he underwent a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Inselspital, University of Bern, Switzerland in 2017.
Prior to joining private practice, Dr Lim was a Senior Consultant Cardiologist at Changi General Hospital and a Visiting Consultant at the National Heart Centre Singapore.
In addition to clinical work, Dr Lim was involved in postgraduate medical education, serving as Associate Programme Director of the SingHealth Cardiology Senior Residency Programme from 2018 to 2024. He also held teaching roles as a Clinical Assistant Professor at SingHealth Duke-NUS and as a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the National University of Singapore.
His research has been published in journals such as Circulation and the Journal of the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology, and he regularly speaks at regional and international cardiology conferences.
In recognition of his contributions to education and patient care, Dr Lim has received several awards, including the SingHealth Quality Service Gold Award (2022) and Silver Award (2025), as well as the SingHealth Residency Outstanding Faculty Award (2020).
Dr Lim is accredited to perform cardiological procedures at Thomson Medical Centre.
