Dr Chan graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree in 1981 and obtained her Masters of Medicine (Paediatrics), Singapore in 1986. She was conferred a Doctor of Medicine degree by National University of Singapore for her thesis on Cardiac Dysrhythmias in Children in 1996.
Dr Chan received her sub-specialty training in Paediatric Cardiology from Royal Brompton & National Heart Lung Hospital in London, United Kingdom, where she was Clinical Research Fellow and Honorary Registrar; and The Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto, where she was a Clinical Fellow.
She was a Consultant Paediatrician and Senior Lecturer with the Department of Paediatrics, National University Hospital, until 1993 when she joined Singapore Baby and Child Clinic and continued on with SBCC Baby & Child Clinic, and has been a resident Paediatrician and Paediatric Cardiologist since then.
Her extensive research on Paediatric Cardiology has been published widely in a number of local and international medical journals. She now provides specialist care in Neonatology (except Level 3 Intensive Care), General Ambulatory Paediatrics and Paediatric Cardiology.
