Dr Cheng Tai Kin is a Paediatrician practising at Kinder Clinic in Siglap.
Dr Cheng has experience in the international medical transfer of premature and critically ill infants. In April 2007, he transported a premature infant weighing 900 g from Hanoi to Singapore for medical care. The infant subsequently returned to Vietnam in August 2007 after four months in Singapore. In August 2010, he also transported a set of premature twins from Vietnam to Singapore. Both infants returned to Vietnam in December 2010 following treatment.
Dr Cheng specialises in paediatric medicine, with a subspecialty in neonatology. His clinical interests focus on the care of newborn infants, particularly premature and critically ill babies requiring neonatal intensive care.
Dr Cheng graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1997. He subsequently obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (UK) (MRCPCH) in 2002. In 2007, he became a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS). He also attained Fellowship of the College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Singapore (CPCHS), in 2008.
As part of his clinical experience, Dr Cheng has undertaken air and land transfers of sick infants and children across several countries. These include Malaysia, Indonesia, China and Australia.
In his approach to paediatric and neonatal care, Dr Cheng emphasises supporting families through the challenges of caring for critically ill newborns. He places importance on helping parents understand their baby's condition and remain involved in their care.
Dr Cheng is accredited to perform procedures at Thomson Medical Centre.
