Dr Hope Ang is a Consultant Anaesthesiologist currently practising at Thomson Medical Centre. 

With more than 18 years of clinical experience, Dr Ang has a particular focus on acute and chronic pain management. His work includes the assessment and treatment of complex pain conditions through evidence-based and personalised care. Alongside his anaesthesia practice, he also serves as a Pain Specialist at Avant Orthopaedics, where he provides comprehensive pain management for patients with challenging pain conditions. 

He manages musculoskeletal pain, neuropathic pain and persistent postoperative pain. His practice incorporates interventional pain procedures, ultrasound-guided techniques, fluoroscopy-guided procedures and multimodal pharmacological strategies. In addition, he provides perioperative care and specialised anaesthetic services for a wide range of surgical procedures. His subspecialty training also includes obstetrical and paediatric anaesthesia to support routine deliveries, Caesarean sections and paediatric surgeries. 

Prior to his current appointments, Dr Ang served as Head of the Acute Pain Service at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. In this role, he developed multimodal pain relief protocols and performed targeted pain procedures. He was also a Visiting Consultant at Singapore General Hospital’s Hyperbaric and Diving Medicine Centre. In addition, he served as an Honorary Visiting Consultant at Dover Park Hospice and supported palliative pain management services. 

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Ang is actively involved in medical education and training. He serves as a Clinical Lecturer and EnRICH Mentor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He also mentors trainees within the National Healthcare Group Anaesthesiology Residency Programme. Through these roles, he contributes to the teaching of anaesthesia, pain management and perioperative care while supporting the development of future healthcare professionals.
