Dr Yong Thon Hon

Dr Yong Thon Hon is a Consultant Cardiologist currently practising at Forte Cardiology clinic in Orchard. 

With more than 15 years of medical practice, Dr Yong brings extensive experience to the care of adult patients. He has performed more than 1,000 coronary angioplasty procedures. His philosophy of care centres on dignity, respect, and empathy. 

Subspecialising in interventional cardiology, he manages coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and heart arrhythmias in his daily practice. A significant proportion of his work is performed in the cardiac catheterisation lab, where he carries out invasive coronary angiogram and angioplasty. 

Dr Yong graduated from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland in 2007, where he obtained his MBChB (Aberdeen). His foundation year doctor training was completed in Glasgow. In 2010, he obtained the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK). He subsequently completed advanced cardiology specialist training in Singapore. In 2018, he pursued interventional cardiology fellowship training at Imperial College London. During this fellowship, he developed expertise in complex coronary intervention and participated in coronary physiology research studies. He is also a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, FESC (Europe). 

Prior to private practice, Dr Yong was at Changi General Hospital, where he served as Director of the Coronary Care Unit. He was also a Visiting Consultant to National Heart Center Singapore. 

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Yong actively participated in undergraduate and postgraduate education. He was a Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. He also held the position of Physician Faculty Member of the Cardiology and Advanced Internal Medicine Senior Residency Programme. He is a recipient of the Singapore Health Quality Service Award.
