He specialises in urologic oncology and men's health conditions, with extensive experience in minimally invasive surgical techniques including High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) focal therapy for prostate cancer and UroLift implants for benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH).Dr Chong offers comprehensive urological care with a focus on urologic cancers, including prostate, kidney, bladder, testicular, and penile cancers. His practice encompasses various treatment approaches including MRI-ultrasound fusion-guided prostate biopsies, bladder cystoscopy with narrow-band imaging (NBI), focal therapy treatments for prostate cancer, Da Vinci robotic partial nephrectomy, and Da Vinci robotic radical prostatectomy. In the realm of men's health, he provides care for conditions such as benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) and kidney stones, utilising procedures such as retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) for small kidney stones and minimally invasive BPH treatments for enlarged prostate.His medical education includes training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York, USA, where he completed a clinical fellowship in Urologic Oncology in 2009. Dr Jay Lim Kheng Sit is a Urologist at PanAsia Surgery Pte Ltd, in Novena, and <a href="https://www.thomsonmedical.com/thomson-specialists/tmc" target="_blank">Thomson Specialists (TMC)</a>.Dr Lim specialises in kidney conditions, including acute renal colic, horseshoe kidney, single kidney, and pregnancy- and stone-related issues. He is adept in the full spectrum of techniques for addressing renal stones, ranging from endoscopic and laparoscopic to ultrasound-based supine percutaneous methods for large stones. His expertise in urology also extends to robotic surgery and minimally invasive procedures.Dr Lim earned his Bachelor of Computing from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2005 and completed his graduate medical degree at the University of Sydney in 2009. He returned to Singapore to complete his urology surgical training and later pursued a fellowship in robotic surgery and reconstructive surgery at Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney, Australia, under Prof. David Gillatt in 2021.Before joining the private sector, Dr Lim was a consultant endourologist at Singapore General Hospital and served as the director of the Urology Cancer Registry. His dedication to research and innovation is evidenced by his appointment as the first medical doctor to be Principal Medical Investigator by AI Singapore (AISG) for his pioneering work in Natural Language Processing. He has since been awarded multiple grants from AISG and the Ministry of Health, holding a total of 13 research grants from 2016 to 2022.Dr Lim's research interests focus on ureteral stents, and he has presented his findings at the World Congress of Endourology. He is also involved in medical device innovation, holding a patent for his work and being recognised with a Singapore-MIT innovation fellowship in 2017.In addition to his clinical and research work, Dr Lim has contributed significantly to medical education. He has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at NUS’ Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, a clinical instructor at Duke-NUS Medical School, and a clinical teacher at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. His commitment to patient care and public health was recognised with a Singapore Health Quality Service Award and a certificate of appreciation for establishing a community care facility during the Covid-19 pandemic at Singapore EXPO for 3,200 patients.Dr Jay Lim Kheng Sit is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, and Mount Alvernia Hospital.

Dr Lee graduated in 1992 from the National University of Singapore, and went on to complete specialist training, receiving specialist accreditation board certification in Urology in 2003. In 2016, he was conferred the Master of Public Health degree, under the Dean’s Scholarship from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and NHG Clinician-Administrator Award. Dr Lee was previously Director of Endo-urology at TTSH, Program Director for Surgery-in-General, and Urology residency programs in NHG, and also held the positions of Associate Professor and Principal Lead for Urology in the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, prior to entering private practice in 2021. He attends to patients with a wide range of general urological conditions, and specialises in urinary stones disease, endourology and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He is visiting consultant to Dover Park Hospice, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. Dr Lee has served on various committees at hospital, cluster and ministry level, and presently serves on the Singapore Medical Council as an elected member, and as a council member of the Singapore Medical Association.

Dr Shirley Bang, Urology Specialist, provides diagnosis and treatment for an all-encompassing scope of urology issues, ranging from simple procedures for urinary stones to more complicated reconstructive surgery of the urinary tract. A Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore and a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK, Dr Shirley Bang sits on the executive committee of the Singapore Society for Continence and author research papers published in respected urological journals. During her time at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), Dr Shirley Bang was a core faculty member of the National Healthcare Group Urology Residency Program, as well as a clinical tutor for both NTU's Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and NUS's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Prior to starting her private practice, Dr Shirley Bang was a consultant with the Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) where she built her experience and expertise in urology. Instrumental in introducing Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation (PTNS), a treatment for overactive bladder, while at TTSH in 2018, the doctor also managed both simple and complex urological cases daily in addition to running weekly urodynamics and video urodynamics sessions. Dr Angela Pang Shien Ling is a Senior Medical Oncologist at the Thomson OncoCare Cancer Centre in Novena, as well as a visiting consultant at the National University Cancer Institute of Singapore. With over 15 years' experience in clinical practice, she specialises in managing gastrointestinal cancers, soft tissue and bone sarcomas, <a href="https://www.thomsonmedical.com/blog/breast-cancer">breast cancer</a>, and cancers in older adults.Dr Pang obtained her medical degree from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS), later completing a Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine at the same institution.She is also a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in the UK. She underwent specialist training in medical oncology at the National University Hospital (NUH) and completed a research fellowship in sarcoma at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.Driven by her interest in improving outcomes for elderly cancer patients, she pursued further training in geriatric medicine at NUS and in geriatric oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, also in New York. She later founded the GOLDEN (Geriatric Oncology Longitudinal End-to-End) program, the first of its kind in Singapore. This program is designed to deliver age-sensitive, tailored cancer care to seniors.Before entering private practice, Dr Pang was a consultant at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCIS) and a visiting consultant at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. She led the Musculoskeletal (Sarcoma) Oncology team at NCIS, which manages sarcoma cases in patients of all ages.In addition to providing clinical care, Dr Pang is involved in clinical education and academic research. Breast lumps during pregnancy are very common. The expectant mother will experience many normal physiological changes ― an increase in breast size, more obvious sweat glands around the nipples, a darkening of the areola ― all of which will prepare her body for breastfeeding.Common non-cancerous variations to breasts include hormonal changes (fibrocystic changes), fibroadenomas, cysts, lipomas, accessory (extra) breast tissue. Pregnancy-related breast cancers make up about 3 per cent of all breast cancers.Whenever a pregnant woman feels a lump, she should see a doctor to get their opinion, keeping in mind that most times it will turn out to be nothing serious!<h2>What the doctor will do</h2>When you see the doctor, she will ask details as to how you detected the lump, how long it has been present and if you have detected any changes, so as to get an idea what the lump is likely to be.Next, the doctor will conduct a breast examination to confirm the presence of the lump, and check for any other symptoms such as skin changes or nipple discharge.Most patients will then be recommended to get an ultrasound scan ― this will give additional information as to whether this lump is benign or cancerous. If there is any concern that the lump may be cancerous, your doctor will advise you as to the pros and cons of having a biopsy, which can be done safely even during pregnancy.“If a pregnant women detects a lump, I would advise them to have a thorough consultation and a physical examination, followed by an ultrasound. If necessary, I would then perform a biopsy.”<h2>Breast cancer screening during pregnancy</h2>A screening checks for cancer even when a patient is feeling well and has absolutely no cancer signs or symptoms. For breast cancer screening, most countries, including Singapore, recommend mammogram screening from age 50 onwards. For women who are at higher risk, this may start at 40. Some specialists will recommend a supplementary ultrasound as well.If a pregnant women detects a lump, I would advise them to have a thorough consultation and a physical examination, followed by an ultrasound. Everything You Need to Know About Breast Biopsy

Just as there are skin issues that arise during pregnancy, skin conditions can also develop after you give birth. Fortunately, they are largely treatable, so there is no need to fret – your postpartum skin and hair will bounce back in no time. We take a look at some of the most common conditions.<h2>Acne</h2>Caused by an inflammation in the facial oil glands, acne may be aggravated by hormonal changes. Most of the time, acne clears within a few weeks or months, but medical treatment should be sought to prevent the risk of scarring. There are many topical agents that can be safely used even when breastfeeding. In more severe cases, oral medications such as antibiotics may be required.<h2>Melasma</h2>Also known as “the mask of pregnancy”, this pigmentation condition is due to increased melanin production and is caused by a combination of genetic and hormonal factors, as well as sun exposure. It tends to affect Asian skin more, appearing as brownish patches over the cheeks, forehead, temples, nasal bridge, upper lips and jawline.It is best controlled by avoiding the sun and with regular use of sunscreen, lightening creams and topical agents, although it can persist in some cases. Other treatments include chemical peeling, intense pulsed light therapy and certain forms of laser therapy. For new mothers, it can also develop as a result of excessive water contact due to frequent handwashing.Use moisturiser regularly to soothe inflamed and itchy skin. Topical steroid creams are prescribed to calm inflamed skin and are safe to use even when breastfeeding. Use a gentle soap substitute and continue to moisturise even after the skin rash has settled.<h2>Stretchmarks</h2>Affecting at least 90 percent of pregnant women, stretchmarks are a form of scarring that appear red when fresh, but most will fade to white after delivery. During pregnancy, intensive use of moisturisers may help the condition, and there are specially formulated stretchmark creams on the market that you can continue using after delivery. For more severe cases, dermatologists may prescribe tretinoin cream to use postpartum when you are not breastfeeding. Some skin-tightening laser treatments are safe options to remove stretchmarks even if you are breastfeeding, but these usually require multiple sessions.<h2>Telogen effluvium</h2>This condition results in hair fall that usually occurs about three months after delivery. Though increased hair fall can be distressing to new mothers, it is almost always a self-limiting condition, and you will usually recover within six months. If you notice increased hair fall, consult a doctor to exclude other causes of hair loss (such as low iron levels). Topical medications can be used if you are not breastfeeding.
