Dr Chong Kian Tai is a certified Urologist currently practising at PanAsia Surgery in Orchard, Thomson Road, Napier, Novena, and Telok Kurau Road. He is also a Visiting Consultant at Thomson Specialists (Thomson Medical Centre).
Dr Chong subspecialises in urologic oncology, covering prostate, kidney, bladder, testicular, and penile cancers, and men's health conditions, including benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and kidney stones. He has extensive experience in minimally invasive techniques, including MRI-ultrasound fusion-guided prostate biopsies, High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) focal therapy and Da Vinci robotic radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer, Da Vinci robotic partial nephrectomy for kidney cancer, and bladder cystoscopy with narrow-band imaging (NBI). For BPH and kidney stones, he performs UroLift implant procedures and retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) respectively.
His medical education includes training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York, USA, where he completed a clinical fellowship in Urologic Oncology in 2009. This training has equipped him with specialised knowledge in urologic cancer management and treatment strategies.
Before entering private practice, Dr Chong served as Consultant and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), where he held positions as Co-Director of Urologic Oncology and Director of Research in the Department of Urology. His responsibilities included managing the urology cancer clinical databases and tissue repository.
Other than clinical work, Dr Chong maintains active membership in several professional organisations, including the Focal Therapy Society (USA), Endourological Society (USA), and Singapore Urological Association. He has contributed to patient care initiatives through his involvement in cancer support programmes and medical education platforms.
