Dr Christopher Chan Yi Wen is a Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist currently practising at Psychiatric Care Centre, with clinics located in Napier.

He provides care for individuals facing a range of mental health conditions, with a clinical focus on treating mood and anxiety disorders. His areas of expertise include assessing, treating and managing psychiatric conditions in the long term, and he has experience with neurostimulation therapies such as electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS).

Dr Chan graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore before obtaining a Master of Medicine (Psychiatry). He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and is registered as a specialist in Psychiatry with the Specialist Accreditation Board, Singapore.

Prior to entering private practice, Dr Chan held several key roles at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH). He led the Affective Disorders Service, Singapore’s national quaternary service for the management of treatment-resistant mood disorders, and served as the primary ward consultant at the Mood Disorders Unit (MDU), the country’s only subspecialised inpatient unit dedicated to mood disorders.

Dr Chan continues to be active in professional development, research and education. He is the Vice-Chair of the Section of Neurostimulation at the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and contributed to the modernisation of ECT services and the development of the rTMS programme at IMH. He has received research grants under the NHG-LKC Medicine Clinician-Scientist Preparatory Programme and from IMH, presented at international conferences – including leading a symposium on mood disorders at the International Society of Affective Disorders in 2018 – and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals.
