Dr Dinesh Carl Junis Mahendran is an Endocrinologist and the Medical Director of The Metabolic Clinic, located in Novena.

With over a decade of clinical experience, Dr Dinesh provides care for patients with various endocrine and metabolic disorders. His areas of expertise include diabetes, thyroid conditions, pituitary conditions and adrenal conditions. Through his subspecialist training in male health (andrology), he is also an expert in testosterone-related disorders. Dr Dinesh is experienced in using current diabetes technologies, such as continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pump therapy. He is also experienced in the multidisciplinary management of complex endocrine conditions and perioperative hormonal care.

Dr Dinesh graduated with honours from Monash University, Melbourne, where he received the Prince Henry’s Prize in Surgery and was runner-up for the Bryan Hudson Prize in Medicine. During his endocrinology training in Melbourne, he was awarded the Top Registrar Award at the Endocrine Society of Australia Clinical Weekend in 2016. He went on to complete Australia’s only accredited Andrology Fellowship with Monash Health in 2017, gaining subspecialty experience in male hormonal health.

Before entering private practice, Dr Dinesh served as the Subspecialty Lead for Adrenal, Pituitary, and Bone Health Services at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he also founded the Metabolic Bone Clinic. In this role, he developed multidisciplinary care pathways for patients with complex metabolic and endocrine conditions and contributed to improving diagnostic and therapeutic standards for bone health.

In addition to his clinical roles, Dr Dinesh is an active educator and researcher. He served as Associate Programme Director for Endocrinology at the National Healthcare Group (NHG) and received the NHG Teaching Award for Senior Doctors in 2023. His research focuses on dysglycaemia and its link to cardiovascular disease, and he has contributed to local clinical guidelines and publications on metabolic health. A strong advocate for preventive endocrinology, he has also been an early adopter of modern diabetes and weight therapies, including GLP-1 receptor agonists.
