Dr Leo Pien Ming Sean is an Orthopaedic Surgeon currently practising at Orthokinetics in Novena.

Dr Leo's professional distinction is shaped by his experience caring for professional soldiers in high-demand vocations during his service in the Singapore Armed Forces Medical Corps. This exposure allowed him to work with programmes in human performance optimisation, surgical techniques and rehabilitation. He also served as a team physician for the Gordon Rugby Football Club in Sydney, where he provided medical coverage for athletes competing in the New South Wales Rugby Union League.

He specialises in knee care with a focus on ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, cartilage repair and knee replacement. His practice also includes the management of sports-related knee injuries and orthopaedic trauma. Dr Leo and his team provide individualised care through consultation, discussion of treatment options, surgical management and post-treatment rehabilitation support in collaboration with physiotherapists and sports rehabilitation specialists.

Dr Leo received a military scholarship from the Singapore Armed Forces to study medicine at the National University of Singapore in 1994. He subsequently completed his postgraduate training in Orthopaedic Surgery and Trauma in 2009. Following this, he undertook a one-year clinical fellowship at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia, where he received subspecialty training in regeneration, repair, restoration and resurfacing of joint injuries.

Prior to private practice, Dr Leo served in the Singapore Armed Forces Medical Corps from 2000 to 2012, where he contributed to medical policy development, operational planning and overseas humanitarian missions. He subsequently held the position of Senior Consultant and Director of Hip and Knee Service at Changi General Hospital from 2014 to 2018. During this period, he was involved in the application of advanced surgical technologies, including computer navigation and robotic-assisted surgery, in hip and knee treatments.

Dr Leo is actively involved in medical education and has trained young doctors at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. From 2012 to 2017, he served as a clinical tutor and faculty member of the SingHealth Orthopaedic Residency Programme. His contributions to medical education were recognised with the NUS Special Recognition Award. In addition, he continues to mentor aspiring doctors through a two-week mentorship and clinical observation programme for selected pre-university students interested in medicine.

Dr Sean is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre.
