Dr Ooi Pei Ling is an accredited paediatrician with Thomson Medical Centre and practises at International Child & Adolescent Clinic in Thomson and Orchard. She has a subspeciality in paediatric rheumatology.
Dr Ooi treats children with autoimmune diseases, joint pains, arthritis, myositis, lupus, vasculitis, periodic fever syndromes, and chronic pain syndromes. Her expertise extends to the use of immunomodulating therapies and joint injections, ensuring comprehensive and effective treatment for her young patients. Dr Ooi’s comprehensive approach to paediatrics includes newborn and well-baby screenings, childhood vaccinations, developmental assessments, and the management of common childhood ailments such as fever, rashes, coughs, and allergic conditions like eczema, allergic rhinitis, and asthma.
Dr Ooi earned her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore (NUS), where she was placed on the Dean’s List. She furthered her education by obtaining post-graduate qualifications from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (UK) and a Master of Medicine (Paediatrics) in 2011. In 2016, she was awarded the prestigious Academic Medicine Development Award from the Ministry of Health, Singapore, which enabled her to complete a fellowship in Paediatric Rheumatology at the renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. She is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
Before transitioning to private practice, Dr Ooi held several key positions at the National University Hospital (NUH), including Consultant and Assistant Professor in the Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology within the Department of Paediatrics. She also served as Deputy Clinical Director of the department from 2014 to 2019, where she led numerous improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient care. Dr Ooi continues to contribute to NUH as a Visiting Consultant.
Recognised for her excellence in patient care and leadership, Dr Ooi was selected for the prestigious Singapore Chief Residency Program in 2013 and the NUHS Physician Leadership Development Program in 2018. She is also an active educator, frequently contributing to public forums, newspapers, and magazines to empower parents with the knowledge to care for their children. Additionally, she serves as a board member of the National Arthritis Foundation in Singapore, advocating for improved care for individuals living with arthritis.
As a mother of four, Dr Ooi brings a personal understanding of the challenges faced by parents, which informs her compassionate and supportive approach to her patients and their families.
