Dr Peter Chang is a Cardiologist who currently practises at the Dr TTLim Cardiology Clinic in Orchard.
Dr Chang is triple board-certified in internal medicine, vascular medicine, and cardiology, with more than 20 years of experience dedicated to diagnosing, treating, and preventing the full spectrum of cardiovascular and vascular diseases.
He has a special interest in conditions affecting the blood vessels and extensive experience in performing endovascular procedures involving both arteries and veins. He manages cardiac and vascular conditions such as high blood pressure, cholesterol disorders, coronary artery disease, heart rhythm disorders, peripheral artery disease, and venous disorders. He also performs a range of diagnostic and minimally invasive procedures to assess and manage circulation problems.
Dr Chang completed his undergraduate studies in biological sciences and visual arts at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. He later earned his medical degree from the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine, USA. He went on to complete his Internal Medicine residency and clinical cardiology training at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in San Francisco. He then pursued advanced cardiology and vascular medicine training at National University Hospital in Singapore. He subsequently completed a Vascular Medicine Fellowship at Stanford Hospital & Clinics and a Peripheral Endovascular Fellowship at National Taiwan University Hospital. In 2013, he received the Academic Medicine Development Award for further training at Stanford University, USA.
Before entering private practice, Dr Chang worked at the University of California San Francisco, USA, as a hospital-based medical specialist and a basic science researcher on immunotherapy. He then spent over a decade at Singapore’s National University Hospital, where he rose to Senior Consultant and served as Director of Vascular Medicine Service. During this period, he also served as director of the accredited Diagnostic Vascular Ultrasound Laboratory at the National University Heart Centre, Singapore.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr Chang contributed to several developments in vascular care in Singapore. He helped introduce mechanical thrombectomy for deep vein thrombosis to Singapore. As an early regional practitioner of aspiration thrombectomy for pulmonary embolism in Southeast Asia, he also advanced the use of catheter-based treatment in this area. In 2024, he led the vascular laboratory to accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission. He also established a hospital protocol for venous thromboembolism referral.
Dr Chang is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre.
