Dr Tina Tan is a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist at Better Life Psychological Medicine Clinic, in Novena. She has extensive experience in managing a wide spectrum of mental health conditions, particularly in elderly patients, working adults, and young adults. Her areas of expertise include treating depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, grief, insomnia, psychosis, stress, adjustment issues, and burnout. She has a special interest in the mental health of individuals in the middle and later stages of life and is particularly skilled in managing dementia and other memory-related disorders. Dr Tan is also well-versed in mental capacity assessments, LPA (Lasting Power of Attorney) certification, and provides home visits for eligible homebound patients. She is an advocate for promoting a positive work-life balance and strong family values.
Dr Tan completed her specialist training in psychiatry across various hospitals in Singapore, including Singapore General Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and National University Hospital. She also trained and practised as a psychiatrist at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), where she managed complex psychiatric cases in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and conducted home visits for homebound clients. Dr Tan formerly served as a Visiting Consultant at IMH, where she ran the Memory Clinic service, and she currently holds a Visiting Consultant position with Allium Care Suites.
Dr Tan is dedicated to educating future medical professionals and has been an Adjunct Instructor at Duke-NUS Medical School, her alma mater. She has also served as adjunct teaching faculty at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr Tan is actively involved in the medical community. She is a Council Member of the Singapore Medical Association (SMA) and serves as the Editor of SMA News. Additionally, she is a member of the Clinical Ethics Committee at Thomson Medical Centre and the Singapore Psychiatric Association. Dr Tan frequently shares her expertise through webinars on mental wellness and has contributed opinion pieces on mental health to various publications, including SMA News, The Straits Times, and Channel News Asia.
