Dr Andrew Mark Tze Liang Choong is a Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon currently practising at Andrew Choong Vascular Surgery, with clinics located in Novena and Orchard.
He cares for patients with a broad range of arterial and venous conditions, including those unique to women’s vascular health. Dr Choong manages varicose veins, venous insufficiency, deep vein thrombosis, post-thrombotic syndrome, pelvic venous congestion, and pregnancy-related venous complications. His arterial and aortic work includes bypass procedures, angioplasty, carotid surgery, aneurysm repair, and thoracoabdominal aortic reconstruction. He also provides minimally invasive venous treatments such as radiofrequency ablation, ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy, and microphlebectomy.
Dr Choong graduated from Imperial College London and began higher vascular surgical training in the St Mary’s Hospital rotation under the London Deanery. He further developed his expertise as an international vascular fellow at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in Australia, where he trained in open, hybrid and endovascular aortic surgery. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2014 and awarded UK specialist certification in vascular surgery. He later completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the University of Warwick for his research on arterial endovascular access techniques.
Before joining private practice, Dr Choong served as a consultant vascular surgeon at King's College Hospital in London. He subsequently joined the National University Heart Centre, Singapore, as Senior Consultant Vascular Surgeon and served as Associate Professor of Surgery at the National University of Singapore. He went on to found the Asian Aortic & Vascular Centre before leading Andrew Choong Vascular Surgery.
Other than clinical practice, Dr Choong is actively involved in academic medicine and surgical training. He previously served as Associate Programme Director for the National University Health System Research Residency Programme and has taught vascular and endovascular surgery in the United Kingdom, Australia and Singapore. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, supervised vascular research and delivered invited lectures regionally and internationally.
Dr Choong is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre.
