Dr Calvin Ong Jianming is a Senior Consultant General Surgeon currently practising at Colorectal Clinic Associates with clinics located on Novena, Thomson Road, Napier, Telok Kurau Road, and Farrer Park.
With over 15 years' surgical experience, Dr Ong subspecialises in colorectal and general surgery. His particular interests include minimally invasive and robotic colorectal surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic floor disorders, and hernia repair. Dr Ong is experienced in performing laparoscopic and robotic colorectal procedures for benign and malignant conditions, including colectomy, anterior resection, small bowel resection, rectal prolapse surgery, and colostomy creation. Dr Ong also performs surgery for haemorrhoids and fistulas, as well as laparoscopic hernia repair and endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
Dr Ong graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and later obtained a Master of Medicine (Surgery) from the same institution. He completed his advanced specialist training in general surgery in 2016 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, United Kingdom. As part of his fellowship training, he spent a year at St Mark’s Hospital in the United Kingdom, where he focused on inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic floor disorders.
Prior to entering private practice, Dr Ong served at Changi General Hospital, managing a wide spectrum of colorectal and general surgical conditions and developing his expertise in minimally invasive and robotic colorectal surgery.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Ong is actively involved in education and professional work. He serves as a clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. He has been an active member of the Singapore Colorectal Society since 2016 and has previously served on its executive committee. His contributions to teaching were recognised with the Role Model Clinical Educator Award in 2014, and his service in public healthcare has been acknowledged with the Singapore Health Quality Award (Gold) in 2022 and 2024.
Dr Ong is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre.
