Dr Cheng Shin Chuen is a Senior Consultant Surgeon currently practising at Unitas Surgical Clinic in Novena, Telok Kurau Road, and Orchard.
With a subspecialty in vascular and endovascular surgery, Dr Cheng has over 15 years of experience in this field. He is also among the few surgeons in Singapore trained in vascular ultrasonography, which allows him to perform ultrasound at the time of consultation and provide timely diagnosis and tailored treatment.
His practice covers aortic, peripheral arterial, and venous diseases, including conditions such as varicose veins and deep vein thrombosis. He performs procedures such as aortic aneurysm repair, lower extremity revascularisation, angioplasty, stenting, Clarivein, endovenous ablation of varicose veins, arteriovenous fistula creation and maintenance, as well as renal nerve denervation. In addition to vascular care, he also provides diabetic foot amputation prevention, laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, general surgery for lumps and bumps, gastroscopy, and colonoscopy.
Dr Cheng completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales, Australia, in 1998, graduating with honours. By 2006, he had completed his basic and advanced specialty training in General Surgery in Singapore. In 2007, he went on to serve as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, Australia.
Prior to private practice, Dr Cheng was Head of Vascular and Endovascular Services and Vascular Diagnostic Laboratory at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was also a consultant surgeon with Alexandra Hospital and a visiting consultant of Vascular Surgery with Changi General Hospital. Alongside these appointments, he served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr Cheng has received awards including Service Excellence from Tan Tock Seng Hospital and the NTU-NHG Seed Innovation Grant. He has authored articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals and other publications. At the international level, he has lectured and presented at symposiums in Taiwan, Seoul, and Tokyo, and has also been invited overseas to supervise and proctor complicated vascular surgeries.
Dr Cheng is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre.
