Dr Chin Yung Ka is a Gastroenterologist currently practising at Gastroenterology and Liver Specialist Clinic in Orchard.

With over 15 years' experience, he has performed more than 1,600 endoscopic ultrasound procedures since 2016.

His clinical practice covers general gastroenterology conditions and pancreatic disorders. These include acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cystic lesions (PCLs), pancreatic cancer, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), liver cirrhosis, hepatobiliary cancer, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), subepithelial or submucosal lesions, and viral hepatitis. Additionally, he also provides endoscopy services.

Dr Chin graduated from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom, with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 2007. In 2011, he became a Member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCP UK). He subsequently obtained specialist accreditation in Gastroenterology and Hepatology from Singapore General Hospital. He then completed advanced fellowships in endosonography (EUS) and pancreatology in Spain. In 2019, he also participated in the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) International School of EUS (WISE) in South Korea for further advanced training in interventional EUS.

Before entering private practice, he was a senior consultant in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Chin has been active in research and has published in local and international peer-reviewed journals. He received a research grant to assess pancreatic cystic lesions with needle-based confocal laser endomicroscopy (nCLE), and the results were published in a renowned peer-reviewed journal. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he received the SGH COVID-19 Resilience Innovation Grant for research on aerosol prevention in endoscopy.

Additionally, he has also been active in medical teaching and training for undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. He regularly teaches medical students from Yong Loo Lin, Lee Kong Chian, and Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. The medical schools awarded him academic appointments for his contributions to undergraduate education. As part of his residency teaching work, he served as Core Faculty for the SingHealth Gastroenterology Residency Programme and contributed to resident training and curriculum planning.
