Dr David Chin Chao-Wu is a Senior Consultant Otorhinolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat) Surgeon practising at The Ascent Ear Nose Throat Specialist Group, with clinics located in Orchard, Thomson Road, and Telok Kurau Road.
He provides specialist ENT care for both adult and paediatric patients, with subspecialities in rhinology, endoscopic sinus surgery, and endoscopic skull base surgery. His clinical practice includes the management of chronic sinus disease, nasal polyposis, nasal tumours, and complex or revision sinus surgery. He has experience in advanced functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), endoscopic skull base surgery, endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR), and selected endoscopic orbital procedures. He also manages nasal airway conditions, including functional septorhinoplasty, and treats sleep-related breathing disorders, including selected surgical procedures for obstructive sleep apnoea.
Dr Chin completed his specialist training in otorhinolaryngology in Singapore in 2011. He subsequently undertook advanced subspecialty training through the Sydney Clinical Rhinology Fellowship, a programme accredited by the American Rhinologic Society. During this fellowship, he received focused training in advanced rhinology, functional endoscopic sinus surgery, endoscopic skull base surgery, and nasal airway surgery, including functional rhinoplasty.
Following his fellowship, Dr Chin served as an ENT Consultant at Changi General Hospital, where he established and led the Rhinology Service from 2014 to 2016. He has also held visiting specialist or consultant appointments at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, and continues to serve as a Visiting Consultant with the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Dr Chin is actively involved in medical education and professional development. He has previously served as core faculty in the SingHealth ENT Residency Programme and as a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the National University of Singapore. He continues to contribute to postgraduate medical education as a member of standard-setting committees and as an examiner for specialist exit examinations in otorhinolaryngology. He has been involved in teaching locally and regionally and has contributed to rhinology research with publications in peer-reviewed journals. His academic contributions were recognised with the Yahya Cohen Memorial Lectureship awarded by the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
Dr Chin is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre.
