Dr David Tan Boon Harn is a Senior Consultant Radiation Oncologist and Medical Director at Asian Alliance Radiation & Oncology (AARO), with clinics located in Bukit Timah, Farrer Park, Napier, Thomson Road, Orchard, and Novena.
With over 15 years of experience in general radiation oncology, his clinical practice includes the treatment of gynaecological cancers (cervix, uterus, ovary), lung cancers, gastrointestinal cancers (oesophagus, stomach, colorectal), and hepatobiliary cancers (liver, pancreas, gallbladder).
Dr Tan subspecialises in stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), and brachytherapy for gynaecological cancers. He is also trained in radiotherapy techniques including 3D-CRT, IMRT, IGRT, VMAT, and gynaecological image-guided brachytherapy.
Dr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2005 and began specialist training in Radiation Oncology at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) in 2007. In 2011, he received the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Award to undertake clinical oncology training in the UK. He then obtained his Fellowship in Clinical Oncology from the Royal College of Radiologists (UK) in 2013 and became a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore the following year.
Prior to joining private practice, Dr Tan was a Consultant Radiation Oncologist at NCCS. During his time there, he played a key role in establishing the centre’s liver and pancreas SBRT programme. His responsibilities included developing treatment protocols, leading multidisciplinary case discussions, and providing clinical teams with training in stereotactic radiotherapy. Dr Tan also served as Singapore’s National Project Coordinator for the IAEA to promote the use of SBRT in treating common cancers in the Asia-Pacific region.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Tan lectured and supervised students at the Duke-NUS Medical School and the Nanyang Polytechnic School of Radiation Therapy. His academic work includes journal publications and editorial contributions, such as guest editing a special issue on stereotactic radiosurgery for the Chinese journal Clinical Oncology.
