Dr James Wee Liang Hao is a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Oxford Orthopaedics, with clinics located in Orchard and Thomson Road.
Dr Wee’s practice spans a wide range of orthopaedic and sports-related conditions, with subspecialty interests in hip and knee surgery, as well as foot and ankle surgery. He treats sports injuries, osteoarthritis of the lower-limb joints, cartilage wear, limb trauma, and common hand conditions such as trigger finger and carpal tunnel syndrome. He is skilled in arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques for ankle sprains, bunions, hammer toes, and has expertise in limb deformity correction and limb lengthening using Ilizarov and computer-assisted hexapod systems.
Dr Wee obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore (NUS), graduating on the Dean’s List and receiving the Ivan Polunin Gold Medal. He completed his orthopaedic specialist training and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS Ed). He subsequently undertook dual clinical fellowships in the United Kingdom – hip and knee surgery at Oxford University Hospitals, and foot and ankle surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London – where he also trained extensively in partial knee replacement techniques.
Before entering private practice, Dr Wee served as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), contributing to the Adult Reconstruction and Foot and Ankle Services. He established and led the Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Surgery (LLRS) service, the hospital’s dedicated multidisciplinary unit for complex limb deformity and limb lengthening care.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Wee is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and a Senior Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. He also teaches in the NHG-AHPL Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Programme and is regularly invited to speak at regional and international scientific meetings. His academic contributions include publications in peer-reviewed journals and participation as faculty in surgical training courses.
Dr Wee is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre.
