Dr Jay Lim Kheng Sit is a Urologist currently practising at Urocare by Dr Jay Lim in Joo Chiat and Orchard. He is also a Visiting Consultant at Thomson Specialists (Thomson Medical Centre).
He specialises in kidney conditions, including acute renal colic, horseshoe kidney, single kidney, and pregnancy- and stone-related issues. He is adept in the full spectrum of techniques for addressing renal stones, ranging from endoscopic and laparoscopic to ultrasound-based supine percutaneous methods for large stones. His expertise in urology also extends to robotic surgery and minimally invasive procedures.
Dr Lim earned his Bachelor of Computing from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2005 and completed his graduate medical degree at the University of Sydney in 2009. He returned to Singapore to complete his urology surgical training and later pursued a fellowship in robotic surgery and reconstructive surgery at Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney, Australia, in 2021.
Before joining the private sector, Dr Lim was a consultant endourologist at Singapore General Hospital and served as the director of the Urology Cancer Registry. His dedication to research and innovation is evidenced by his appointment as the first medical doctor to be Principal Medical Investigator by AI Singapore (AISG) for his pioneering work in Natural Language Processing. He has since been awarded multiple grants from AISG and the Ministry of Health, holding a total of 13 research grants from 2016 to 2022.
Dr Lim's research interests focus on ureteral stents, and he has presented his findings at the World Congress of Endourology. He is also involved in medical device innovation, holding a patent for his work and being recognised with a Singapore-MIT innovation fellowship in 2017.
In addition to his clinical and research work, Dr Lim has contributed significantly to medical education. He has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at NUS’ Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, a clinical instructor at Duke-NUS Medical School, and a clinical teacher at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. His commitment to patient care and public health was recognised with a Singapore Health Quality Service Award and a certificate of appreciation for establishing a community care facility during the Covid-19 pandemic at Singapore EXPO for 3,200 patients.
