Dr Leon Foo Siang Shen is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon currently practising at Island Orthopaedic in Orchard.

Dr Foo received fellowship training in the dual sub-specialities of Orthopaedic Oncology, Cartilage Regeneration & Joint Reconstruction. He is one of a handful of fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Oncologists in Singapore. As the surgical member in the multi-disciplinary oncology team, he contributes expertise in tumour tissue removal and subsequent reconstructive surgery, including limb-preserving surgery using autografts, allografts, and endoprosthetic implants.

His clinical expertise includes the treatment of hip, knee, foot, ankle and shoulder problems arising from degenerative, inflammatory, traumatic and sports-related causes. His surgical expertise encompasses cartilage resurfacing and regeneration, minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery, arthroscopic surgery, computer-assisted surgery and robotic surgery.

Dr Foo graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1999. He obtained Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2004, Master of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2004 and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2008. In 2008, he was awarded the Singapore Government Ministry of Health Training Scholarship to pursue his fellowship training at Muenster University Hospital in Germany. This was followed by a clinical attachment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, United States of America.

Prior to private practice, Dr Foo was a Consultant with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Singapore General Hospital. He was concurrently appointed as Visiting Consultant to the National Cancer Centre Singapore, Kandang Kerbau Women & Children's Hospital, and Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Outside clinical practice, Dr Foo was appointed as Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and Clinical Tutor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. He is an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor and has been actively involved as Physician Faculty for the Orthopaedic Surgery and Family Medicine Residency Programmes. A three-time recipient of the "Service with a Heart Award" during his practice at Singapore General Hospital, he has also published several papers in international peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals and served as an expert reviewer for PubMed-indexed medical journals including the Journal of Arthroplasty, Singapore Medical Journal, and Annals of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore.
