Dr Ng Jing Yu is a Senior Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon currently practising at Ark Surgical Practice, with clinics located in Orchard and Thomson Road.
With over 17 years of clinical experience, he manages a wide range of colorectal and general surgical conditions. He subspecialises in colorectal surgery, with a strong focus on minimally invasive techniques including laparoscopic, robotic-assisted, and transanal procedures. His clinical practice covers conditions such as colorectal cancer, bowel and anal disorders, haemorrhoids, gallbladder disease, and hernias. He is also experienced in laser treatments for haemorrhoids and other perianal conditions, offering minimally invasive options for selected patients.
Dr Ng graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2008 and completed his general surgery training at the National University Hospital. He was awarded the Ministry of Health Health Manpower Development Programme scholarship and underwent advanced colorectal fellowship training at the Koo Foundation Sun Yat-Sen Cancer Center in Taiwan, where he received specialised training in robotic surgery and advanced transanal total mesorectal excision techniques, particularly for rectal cancer surgery.
Before entering private practice, Dr Ng served as Senior Consultant and Assistant Professor in the Division of Colorectal Surgery at the National University Hospital. During his tenure, he was involved in the management of complex colorectal conditions and contributed to the development of subspecialty colorectal services. He also held leadership roles in surgical training, including serving as Associate Programme Director of the General Surgery Residency Programme and leading the Colorectal Surgery Fellowship Programme.
Dr Ng is actively involved in medical education and research. He has been recognised with multiple NUHS Teaching Excellence Awards from 2018 to 2020, as well as the NUS Teaching Excellence Award in 2020. He serves as a lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, and has examined candidates in the final MBBS examinations. He continues to contribute as a Visiting Consultant to NUH. Dr Ng has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and serves on the Executive Committee of the Singapore Colorectal Society. He is also a member of the International Society of Laser Proctology and the Robotic Surgery Society of Singapore.
Dr Ng is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre.
