Dr Roy Tan Da Duan is an Eye Surgeon (Ophthalmologist) currently practising at Cornerstone Eye Centre in Novena.
Dr Tan subspecialises in oculoplastic and orbital surgery, with clinical interests spanning eyelid surgery, lacrimal system surgery, orbital surgery, and general ophthalmology, including cataract surgery. As an oculoplastic and orbital surgeon, he treats eyelid malpositions such as ptosis, eyelid retraction, entropion, ectropion, lash ptosis, and epiblepharon, as well as eyelid lumps including chalazion and other eyelid lesions. He also performs cosmetic eyelid procedures including blepharoplasty, double eyelid surgery, and eyebag treatment. His orbital practice covers benign and malignant orbital tumours, thyroid eye disease, orbital fractures, orbital infections, fat prolapse, and prosthetic eye care, whilst his lacrimal work addresses conditions such as nasolacrimal duct obstruction and dacryocystitis. In general ophthalmology, he diagnoses and treats myopia, glaucoma, diabetic retinal disease, age-related macular degeneration, dry eye disease, corneal conditions, and inflammatory eye disorders, and performs cataract and pterygium surgery.
Dr Tan graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore. He later specialised in ophthalmology and obtained his Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) from the National University of Singapore. He was subsequently admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (United Kingdom) and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. Following his specialist training, he completed a two-year local fellowship in Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute. He was later awarded the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Scholarship, which supported a year of advanced clinical fellowship training at the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where he further developed his expertise in oculoplastic and orbital surgery.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Tan also contributes to medical education by serving as a clinical lecturer at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
Dr Tan is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre.
