Dr Stephen Chang Kin Yong is a General Surgeon who currently practises at Glad Clinic in Farrer Park and Orchard. He is also a visiting consultant at Thomson Specialists (Thomson Medical Centre).
Dr Chang pioneered single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) in Singapore, and was among the first in the world to publish his experience of performing SILS for gallbladder, liver, and pancreatic resections. In addition to general surgery, he subspecialises in the minimally invasive management of hepatopancreaticobiliary and digestive diseases, as well as abdominal wall hernia conditions.
Dr Chang graduated with MBBS at NUS in 1994 and obtained his Master of Medicine (Surgery) in 2000. Having become a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK in 2003, he furthered his training in laparoscopic hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, and liver transplantation in Paris, France in 2004.
He is an Adjunct Associate Professor in NUS and has more than 100 publications in both clinical and Medtech research and has since filed patents in these areas.
Dr Chang is the founding president of the Hepatopancreatobiliary Association of Singapore. During his 4-year tour as president, he spear-headed the Liver Disease Awareness Week to improve awareness of liver diseases among Singaporeans.
Dr Chang is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre.
