Dr Wang Junjie (JJ) is a Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Thomson Women's Clinic & Cancer Surgery, located at Thomson Medical Centre in Novena. He subspecialises in Gynaecological Oncology and has a clinical interest in minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of gynaecological cancers.

His clinical practice includes the management of pre-invasive gynaecological conditions and gynaecological cancers. Dr Wang is accredited in both gynaecological cancer surgery and minimally invasive procedures, including laparoscopic and deep pelvic surgeries. He also manages general gynaecological conditions and performs procedures such as Caesarean hysterectomy, management of placenta accreta, breech delivery, and gynaecological laparoscopy.

Other procedures he performs include ovarioplasty (microsurgery), vaginoplasty, uterosacral nerve ablation, hysteroscopic resection of fibroids and synechiae, endometrial ablation, and laser surgery.

Dr Wang obtained his medical degree (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2007. After completing his housemanship at Changi General Hospital and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH), he served as a Medical Officer with the Singapore Armed Forces. In 2010, Dr Wang began his Basic Specialist Training at KKH.

Following four years of training, he passed the MRCOG Part Two examination and was awarded “Best Registrar” by the department during his specialist training, which commenced in 2014. After passing his Obstetrics and Gynaecology Exit Examinations in 2016, Dr Wang became an accredited obstetrician and gynaecologist in Singapore and was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in United Kingdom.

Following this, Dr Wang joined the Department of Gynaecological Oncology at KKH as an Associate Consultant. In 2018, he was awarded the SingHealth Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Fellowship, which enabled him to undertake subspecialty training in laparoscopic oncological surgery at Inselspital Bern in Switzerland. This was followed by a surgical fellowship at the Oscar Lambret Cancer Centre in Lille, France.

Dr Wang has conducted research and participated in clinical trials related to gynaecological cancers, including studies on sentinel lymph node biopsy. He has presented his work at local and international medical conferences and has had papers published in peer-reviewed journals.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Wang is involved in academic education at Singapore’s three medical schools. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (NTU), and a Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS). He contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and serves as a Physician Faculty Member for the SingHealth Obstetrics and Gynaecology Residency Programme.

He has also contributed to professional development within the specialty by serving on the Council of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Singapore, helping to organise educational meetings and webinars.
