Dr Chua Wei Han is the Medical Director and Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist currently practising at Advanced Eye Clinic & Surgery in Orchard.

He practises general ophthalmology and sub-specialises in cataract and refractive surgery. His clinical expertise includes cataract surgery, implantable contact lens surgery, intravitreal injection, laser photocoagulation, microsurgery, multifocal lens implantation, and pterygium surgery. He also performs LASIK, SMILE and advanced surface ablation techniques such as PRK and epi-LASIK, as well as being the first to perform minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) using the iStent and Hydrus devices. In addition, he treats dry eye, pterygium, keratoconus, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears, macular degeneration, childhood myopia, presbyopia, refractive errors, paediatric eye disorders, and retinal disorders.

Dr Chua graduated as the top medical student with honours from the University of Newcastle, Australia. He also obtained his higher degrees in Ophthalmology from the National University of Singapore and the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

He is currently a visiting consultant at the Singapore National Eye Centre and an adjunct research scientist at the Singapore Eye Research Institute.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Chua has presented at more than 100 international scientific meetings and published more than 25 peer-reviewed papers in the areas of glaucoma, refractive errors, LASIK, cataract lens implants and dry eye treatment. He has also been involved as an investigator in several US FDA clinical trials. His work was recognised with the Outstanding Award in Clinical Ophthalmology at the inaugural SERI-ARVO Meeting on Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

As part of his teaching contributions, he is also a clinical teacher at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He is a member of the Singapore Society of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, and the Asia Pacific Association of Cataract & Refractive Surgery.
