Dr David Paul Bell is an Orthopaedic Surgeon practising at Orthosports Orthopaedic and Sports Surgery in Novena.
Dr Bell's professional experience includes the management of complex musculoskeletal trauma and joint reconstruction. His background also includes fellowship training in Germany, where he developed his knowledge of adult reconstruction and trauma care.
Dr Bell specialises in orthopaedic surgery, with a subspecialty in Sports Medicine. His clinical practice focuses on traumatic musculoskeletal injuries, deformity correction and degenerative conditions affecting the hip and knee. He also manages adult hip and knee conditions using minimally invasive and keyhole surgical techniques.
Dr Bell graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1995. He obtained his Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2001, followed by a Master of Medicine in Orthopaedics in April 2002. In 2006, he completed his Advanced Specialist Training in Orthopaedic Surgery and obtained the FRCS Ed (Orth).
Under the Ministry of Health's Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Scholarship, Dr Bell pursued further training at Charité University in Berlin, Germany. His training focused on adult reconstruction in hip and knee arthroplasty and the management of complex musculoskeletal trauma.
Prior to private practice, Dr Bell served at Changi General Hospital (CGH) in the Orthopaedic Trauma Service as a Consultant and Director. He continues to serve as a Visiting Consultant at CGH, contributing to complex trauma management and joint reconstruction.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Bell has been involved in medical education. He served as a Clinical Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and received the Orthopaedic Teaching Excellence Award. As a member of AO International, a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the care of patients with musculoskeletal injuries, he has served as a chairman and instructor for numerous international and regional instructional courses.
Dr Bell is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre.
