Dr Jeffrey Tan Gek Meng is a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Island Orthopaedic, with clinics located in Thomson Road.

Dr Tan specialises in lower limb reconstruction, with particular expertise in foot and ankle surgery. His clinical practice includes the management of sports and overuse injuries, tendon disorders, flat feet, bunions, as well as foot and ankle trauma, complex deformity correction, arthritis, and diabetic foot conditions. His clinical interests also include military-related injuries and tendinopathy of the lower limb and foot and ankle.

Dr Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Singapore. He subsequently obtained his postgraduate qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He completed advanced subspecialty training and a surgical fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at Toronto Western Hospital in Ontario, Canada.

Prior to entering private practice, Dr Tan was a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. During his tenure, he held several leadership and administrative roles, including Chair of the hospital’s Wound Committee from 2011 to 2017, and was actively involved in the multidisciplinary diabetic limb salvage programme. He also spearheaded the development of the foot and ankle reconstruction and surgery service at the hospital, while contributing to the management of complex orthopaedic trauma and general orthopaedic workloads.

Dr Tan is actively involved in medical education and training. He previously served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He has contributed to undergraduate and postgraduate education as a regular examiner and received recognition awards for teaching and patient care. He also served as Associate Programme Director for the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Programme at the National Healthcare Group from 2010 to 2023. His academic contributions include publications on foot and ankle conditions and orthopaedic trauma, as well as presentations at local and international conferences.
